Job Description for Worship Leader

by skillfully combining God’s Word with music,

thereby motivating the gathered church

to proclaim the gospel,

to cherish God’s presence,

and to live for God’s glory.

The Worship Leader of North Olmsted Evangelical Friends Church will be responsible for the development and implementation of an excellent and meaningful worship experience at NOEFC.  He/she will demonstrate a clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and enjoy a vital, growing personal relationship with Him while exhibiting skill in leading others to His Presence.  This individual will possess vocal talent and a deep understanding of music and God’s Word and their relationship to worship.  The ability to play a musical instrument is preferred.  Time management and team leadership skills will be required.  An appreciation for various styles will be a must with the view of helping NOEFC to design an excellent blending of traditional and contemporary elements to its services. The worship program should be characterized by inspiration, excellence, unity and sensitivity to the style and flavor of North Olmsted Evangelical Friends Church.


Time Requirements:  The position will require 10 to 15 hours per week.


Responsibilities:

·      Plan and lead creative worship services under the direction of the Senior Pastor.  In order to keep the musical portion of the worship services fresh, the introduction of new songs, new arrangements and a blending of various styles and genres will be expected.

·      Form Praise Team(s) that are musically talented, Spirit-led and who exhibit appropriate worship demeanor.  Composition of teams will may vary at the leader’s discretion and as theme/need dictates. 

·      Establish a Praise Team practice schedule and regularly meet.

·      Lead Praise Team during all Sunday morning services and other opportunities as assigned by the Senior Pastor.  If absent on such occasion, will secure a suitable replacement. 

·      Coordinate all musical aspects of Sunday morning services (choir, offertory, hymns, etc.), collaborating with various group leaders to ensure total worship experience retains continuity of theme and relevance to pastoral message.

·      Ensure Live Worship (multimedia presentation) for Sunday worship is accurate (songs/words, spelling, etc.) and is created in such a manner as to enhance the worship experience (appropriate backgrounds, font size and color, etc.)

·      Collaborate with the Sound/Media Coordinator on all technical and media support aspects of worship services (sound, lighting, video, etc.).

·      Other duties may be assigned as needed by the Senior Pastor.

Accountability:  The Worship Leader will be responsible to the Senior Pastor who will be the immediate supervisor.  He/she will meet together on a weekly basis.  The purpose of such meetings is for evaluation, direction, spiritual renewal, and mutual encouragement and support.
